In 2013, MsTCE Services was created by Tanya C. Edwards.  We are a small, specialized tutoring company.  MsTCE Services provides one-on-one instruction in a fun and creative way to children and adults primarily with dyslexia, autism spectrum disorders and other learning differences.  It was started to educate and empower this sometimes forgotten and misdiagnosed group of students with individualized instruction that promoted academic and personal growth while instilling a passion for learning.

In our experience, a successful tutoring relationship is one that consists of trust and encouragement.  We believe it is the tutor’s job to make students feel safe and confident as they face their academic challenges. We are very patient and understand how it feels to require extra help with a subject that seemingly appears so easy for everyone else.

At MsTCE Services, we are different from other tutoring services in that we take a personal interest in the student’s well-being.  We are concerned with the whole person not just their academic achievement. It is important to us that we build the student’s confidence and self-esteem and establish a great rapport with the student that inevitably results in improved grades and better social skills.  Many who come to us are so broken that we must build them up mentally and emotionally, before true academic success is achieved.

We primarily use the Barton Reading & Spelling System which is an “Orton-Gillingham influenced simultaneously multi-sensory explicit and systematic phonics program.”   We have seen tremendous progress in our students’ phonetic awareness, reading, writing, and spelling skills, since incorporating this system into their learning plan.
