As an educator, who specializes in working with students with dyslexia and learning differences, not once have I ever doubted that all my students could and would learn.   However, it’s that day that the student connects the dots and experiences their own personal epiphany that is unknown and unpredictable. Waiting can be understandably tough and uncomfortable for the student’s parent or guardian.  By the time they have come to me or another tutor, they have exhausted all their resources. They want progress to happen fairly quickly and in most cases, it won’t.

But, it is during those weeks and sometimes months of waiting while the student begins a new chapter with their tutor that the student’s love ones must show the greatest patience, compassion and understanding.   “This” is a process and their brains are being reprogrammed to think about sounds and words differently.   This is not easy for the student and they must be allowed the freedom of time to adjust.  So, stay the course because brighter days are ahead if you remember…

Students will learn not on the same day or in the same way, but they will learn.
